The trip is online and bookable. The departure is not yet confirmed, but the first ones are already warming up their engines. If you want to be there, block your spot now. The legends are moving ahead.
There’s a privilege cyclists know well: finding joy in the suffering.
It happens when a climb drags on, your legs start to feel heavy, and someone up ahead turns around to crack a joke at just the right moment. So you keep pedalling.
From February 16th to 21st, we’re going to Gran Canaria with Daniel Oss for four days of road biking. We’ll set off from Maspalomas, between the dunes and the ocean, to explore an island whose landscape changes in the space of a few turns: inland valleys, small villages, climbs through greenery and volcanic rock, coastal roads to pedal while gazing out to sea. It’s February, while at home the fan in front of the rollers is working overtime.
We chose Gran Canaria together with Daniel and Ray from Cycle Gran Canaria, who has been organising cycling tours on the island for thirty years and will accompany us in the support vehicle, keeping us fuelled and providing mechanical assistance. For the camp we had in mind, the appeal was being able to plan a different route every day, mixing coastal roads and mountain climbs without having to head straight above 2,000 metres to find a serious ascent. And Daniel Oss has been to his fair share of training camps in his former life as a pro.
Daniel has raced the Giro and the Tour, won two world titles in the team time trial and taken silver at the Gravel World Championships. And after so many years as a pro, he still loves riding. His approach is relaxed and curious, always with a joke at the ready: train together, help each other out and enjoy the ride. Because to keep putting in the miles, year after year, you need to want to get back in the saddle with a smile. With Daniel, there’ll be time to talk gear, find a more comfortable position on the bike and learn how to pace longer climbs with a gran fondo in mind.
There’ll be nine of us, each with our own engine and our own way of riding. Sportful is putting together a limited-edition custom kit for each of us, so we’ll roll out for our first ride looking and feeling like a team.
With Daniel leading the way, the wind in our faces and the island unfolding before us, from the mountains to the ocean. Every now and then, we’ll stop to take it all in. This is Gran Canaria, after all. And today, all we have to do is ride.

Daniel is one of the group… with a few more stories to tell. He’s spent years racing the Grand Tours and knows all about hard days in the saddle. But he also knows how good it feels to stop, take in the surroundings and share a ride without everything revolving around watts.

Daniel and Ray from Cycle Gran Canaria will plan the routes around the group’s profiles. We’ll ride for around 3–5 hours a day, mixing inland climbs with rolling terrain and coastal roads. We’ll receive the GPX files before departure, and a support vehicle will accompany us on every ride with water, snacks and mechanical assistance.

You can travel with your own bike: the airport transfer can also accommodate bike boxes, and we'll have a secure storage area at the hotel. If you prefer to find one in Gran Canaria, we can help you arrange rental of a top-of-the-line bike, including a Specialized one, directly on the island.

The kit you’ll receive is exclusive to this camp. Sportful will create a limited-edition custom kit designed especially for the trip. Every participant will receive one as a gift, and we’ll probably see it making regular appearances on group rides long after Gran Canaria.
We land at Las Palmas Airport and head to Maspalomas together in a private transfer equipped to carry our bikes. We drop off our luggage and bike boxes at Suites & Villas by Dunas, get to know the group and settle in for the days of riding ahead. Our first dinner is a chance to talk routes, expectations and, inevitably, cycling.

Each morning, we set off from Maspalomas on one of four rides planned by Daniel Oss and Cycle Gran Canaria. Routes will be tailored to the group, with the idea of riding for 3–5 hours a day, exploring both the island’s interior and its coastline.
Daniel will be riding with us. A support vehicle will follow each ride, carrying water, nuts, bananas and providing mechanical assistance. Back at the hotel, we’ll have time to recover before dinner. The next day, we head out again, with a new route and probably a fresh debate about which climb was the best.

Breakfast in Maspalomas, a few final things to pack into our bike boxes, then a private transfer to Las Palmas Airport.
We head home with four days of riding in our legs and a group of friends who won’t take much convincing to plan the next ride.

For five nights, our base will be Suites & Villas by Dunas, a four-star hotel in Maspalomas, surrounded by palm trees, gardens and pools. We’ll set off on our rides right from the south of the island. When we return, the hardest part of the day might be deciding whether to shower first or jump in the pool.
The hotel is well equipped to welcome a group of cyclists, with secure bike storage and tools for basic maintenance. There’s also a gym, a wellness area and plenty of space to unwind after our rides. Breakfast and dinner are included, leaving time to recover, hang out with the group and debate, once again, who pushed the pace too hard on the last climb.

This trip is designed for intermediate and advanced cyclists who are used to riding on consecutive days. The pace will be adapted to the group’s overall ability and fatigue levels, with refreshment stops and time to recover during longer rides.
